day 01 wed Lake Como
Arrive independently to Como and your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure for personal discoveries.
day 02 thu Bergamo ( 07May – 01 Oct)
In the morning take the public boat from Villa Carlotta’s boat landing stage at 9.20am to Varenna. You will meet the guide at Varenna ferry landing stage to board the boat at10.00am. The ferry departs at 09.20 arriving in Varenna at 10. Bergamo is one of the oldest and most beautiful towns in Northern Italy, dating back to Middle Ages. We depart from Varenna, Lecco, the town of Alessandro Manzoni’s “The Betrothed”. We proceed to Bergamo and the “Città Alta” surrounded by its medieval Venetian walls. Before the guided tour you will have time for a stroll around the streets of this stunning and sophisticated small town, and to enjoy lunch. Bergamo is well known for its culinary specialities.
day 03 fri Lake Orta and Stresa (Lake Maggiore) (10 Apr- 30 Oct)
Meet your guide outside the hotel at 8.10am and depart for Lake Orta. Explore this beautiful village at leisure on arrival. Continue on to the elegant town of Stresa, on Lake Maggiore. Take a boat to Isola Bella to visit this tiny Island. Later return by boat to Stresa with time to discover this town with its craft shops, bars and restaurants. Later in the afternoon return to Como.
day 04 sat Lake Como
You are free today to enjoy beautiful Lake Como. Take a stroll around the village, visit the city of Como or board a ferry to visit other villages or a relaxing crossing of the Lake.
day 05 sun Villa Balbianello
Morning is at leisure. Later in the afternoon at 3.15 depart from the pier near Villa Carlotta and by private boat travel to the loveliest villas and gardens on Lake Como. Villa Balbianello on the tip of the Lavedo promontory is the most spectacular spot on the lake. It was built at the end of the 18C and today belongs to F.A.I. (the Italian equivalent of the National Trust). Visit the beautiful and exquisitely furnished interiors and the great collection of pre-Columbian objects, Chinese porcelain and terracotta, reverse-glass paintings, tapestries and carpets that belonged to its last owner, Count Guido Monzino, a keen explorer renowned for climbing Mount Everest in 1973. Later return to Como.
day 06 mon Bernina Express-St Moritz (Mon- 06 Apr- 25 Sep)
Meet the guide outside the hotel at 07.40am and travel northbound to Tirano where we stop for coffee. Part of this excursion is done with the well-known panoramic Bernina Express train. We take the train in Poschiavo (Switzerland) and continue to Diavolezza (Switzerland), doing one of the nicest section of the Bernina Express Railway. We will see the White Lake and the Black Lake and plenty of breathtaking glaciers. Then, by coach, reach St Moritz. The famous Swiss holiday and ski resort situated on the southern side of the Alps in the Engadine Valley with its numerous crystal clear mountain lakes. On our return we stop in Chiavenna and have some free time before returning to Lake Como.
day 07 tue Lake Como Departure
Your tour comes to an end after breakfaSt Transfer independently to Milan.
