day 01 Australia-Lisbon
Independent flight arrangements to Lisbon or group quote to include flights.
day 02 Lisbon-arrival-Lisbon city tour-Fatima
Met on arrival at Lisbon Airport, continue to the charming city of Lisbon, on the banks of the Tagus River. View major sites as the: Marquis de Pombal, Parque Eduardo
day 03 Fatima
Attend Mass at the Chapel of the Apparitions. Reminder of the day free to visit your preferred religious sites or walk the Station of the Cross ending at the Chapel of Calvary. Join the candle lit procession after dinner.
day 04 Fatima-Santarem-Aljustrel-Fatima
Full day guided excursion commencing with a visit to historical Santarem, inhabited first by the Lusitani, then the Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans, Visigoths, Moors and finally Portuguese Christians. The famous legend relates to Saint Irene, the Visigoths named Sancta Irene from which Santarém was derived, (originally known as Scalabis). View the Porta do Sol leading to the Old Castle, the Church of St John de Alporao and the 17C Cathedral of Santarem. Continue to Aljustrel, on arrival visit the town and the houses of Lucia, Giacinta and Francisco. Late afternoon return to Fatima. Attend the candlelit procession after dinner.
day 05 Fatima-Ciudad Rodrigo-Avila
Morning departure from Fatima. Stop at Ciudad Rodrigo and visit this imposing town with its castle, then continue to the medieval walled city of Avila. A magnificent medieval town at 3707ft surrounded by majestic mountains. Birthplace of St Theresa and where both the Child Jesus and St Joseph spoke to her. Visit the historical centre and the Cathedral of St Vincente at your leisure.
day 06 Avila-Toledo-Madrid-Avila
Full day coach excursion, meet your tour guide and visit Toledo, once the former ancient Royal Capital of Spain, visit its magnificent Cathedral, St Maria la Blanca, originally a Synagogue. Then continue to Madrid for a guided panoramic tour of the historical centre; the Park of the Buon Retiro, a wonderful oasis in the city centre, once a palace garden, it contains a boating lake and majestic fountains, external view of the Palacio Real and the Prado museums. Afternoon return to Avila.
day 07 Avila-Zaragosa-Lourdes
Early morning departure from Avila. En route stop at the well preserved Roman city of Zaragosa and independent visit of the Madonna del Pilar and the historical centre. Continue through the Pyrenees Mountain range and the French border where Lourdes is nestled. Independent visit on arrival: the Grotto where Our Lady appeared 18 times in 1858 to a young Saint Bernadette, the baths with the Miraculous Waters, the Home of St Bernadette. Attend the candlelight procession after dinner.
day 08 Lourdes-Bartres-Lourdes
Attend the regular mass celebrated at the grotto, visit the Upper and Lower Basilicas, immerse in the baths and possibility to attend international mass in the underground Basilica of Pius X. In the afternoon depart with your coach for an excursion to Bartres, visit where St Bernadette lived and visit sheepfold and the Parish Church. Breakfast and dinner at your hotel. Optional evening candlelight procession.
day 09 Lourdes-Arles-Aix en Provence
Morning departure from Lourdes. Travel along south of France stopping in Arles to visit what was once a Roman city, now part of the UNESCO heritage list. View the ancient Theatre and Amphitheatre and the Church of St Thophime. Continue to your hotel in the charming city of Aix en Provence, birthplace of the famous artist, Paul Cazenne. On arrival free to stroll through the lively streets until dinner. BD
day 10 Aix en Provence-Nice-Genova
On the way to Genova enjoy a panoramic of Nice and nearby towns. Early afternoon continue to your hotel in Genova, followed by dinner.
day 11 Genova-Tigullio-Genova
Travel along the coast to Rapallo and guided boat trip on the Gulf of Tigullio, we view Santa Margherita, San Fruttuoso and Camogli.
day 12 Genova-Padova area
Across to the Veneto Region we stop to visit the Basilica of St Anthony, continue to our hotel. Remainder of the day at leisure until dinner.
day 13 Padova-Venice-Treviso-Padova
Depart for a full day excursion we commence with a private transfer to St Mark’s Square where you will meet your tour guide and visit the historical centre; external views of the Doge’s Palace, the Cathedral and the Bridge of Sighs where Casanova had been sentenced to 5 years imprisonment. Continue for a guided visit of Treviso followed by tastings. Evening return to your hotel in time for dinner. BD
day 14 Padova-San Marino-Assisi
Travelling southbound we visit the tiny Republic of San Marino on the way to Assisi. On arrival meet with your tour guide and stroll through this amazing medieval republic perched on top of Mt Titano. In the afternoon continue to the hilltop town of Assisi and at leisure until dinner. BLD
day 15 Assisi-San Giovanni Rotondo
Possibility to attend an early mass at the Basilica of St Francis. Then meet your coach and depart for San Giovanni Rotondo. Time permitting we view the Eucharistic Miracle at Lanciano. Late afternoon arrival at San Giovanni Rotondo and at leisure to attend religious services until dinner. BD
day 16 Grotto San Michele Arcangelo
Your morning is at leisure to attend the programmed Religious Services. In the afternoon depart for an excursion to visit the famous Grotto of Saint Michael Archangel and the Sanctuary. It is the oldest shrine in Western Europe dedicated to the Archangel Michael it has been an important pilgrimage site since the Middle Ages. Return to San Giovanni Rotondo, at leisure until dinner.
day 17 San Giovanni Rotondo-Paestum-Sorrento
On our way to Sorrento we will stop in Paestum area and visit a buffalo cheese producer for tastings and light lunch before continuing to your hotel in Sorrento.
day 18 Sorrento-Amalfi-Ravello-Sorrento
Join your tour guide for the day and depart for a guided tour of Amalfi and Ravello. Afternoon at leisure or optional boat trip to Capri. Dinner at the hotel.
day 19 Sorrento-Lake Albano-Castelgandolfo-Marino-Grottaferrata-Rome
On our way to Rome (time permitting) we stop at ancient Anagni, visit the Cathedral and the Palace of the Popes. Panoramic of Lake Albano and Castelgandolfo. Evening arrival in Rome.
day 20 Religious Rome-Papal Audience
Morning transfer for the Papal Audience (to be confirmed). Independent visit of the Basilica of St Peters. Should the Papal Audience not be available it will be replaced by a half day guided tour of all major Churches of Rome.
day 21 Monumental Rome
Meet your tour guide and coach for a guided tour of all major monuments of Rome including a walking tour to visit Piazza Navona, the Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon.
day 22 Rome departure
Your tour comes to an end after breakfast with your transfer to Rome Airport.
